Cheeseburger Pie

Our first recipe comes from Jules Food.  I followed the main recipe pretty closely, but will definitely make changes next time I make it…and I will make it again – it got two thumbs up from Mark, Anthony and Benjamin!

Cheeseburger Pie
1 pound ground meat
1 medium onion, diced
4-5 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1-2 C cheddar cheese
1/2 C Bisquick
1 C milk
2 eggs

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9-inch round pie pan.

Brown the ground meat, onion and garlic together in a skillet. Drain. Add salt and pepper to taste and place in pie pan. Top with cheddar cheese.

Mix milk and eggs and add Bisquick, stirring until smooth. Pour this mixture over the cheese/meat. Spread evenly over the top as the liquid is absorbed into the meat.

Bake in the center of the oven, on a cookie sheet, for about 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on the cheese, making sure it doesn’t burn. Towards the end of the cooking time, cover the pie pan with a foil tent. The dish is done when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it sit on the counter for about 10 minutes to firm up the center.

Here is the finished product!

The things I would change about this receipe:

–No matter what, I will change it up with more seasonings/herbs and add bell pepper to the recipe.

To make it more “Cheeseburger”-y:
–Mix cheese into the meat mixture as well as putting the cheese on top.
–Add hashbrowns to the meat mixture to give it a feel like fries have been included.

To give it a Mexican dish feel:
–Instead of salt and pepper, mix the meat with taco seasoning
–Serve it with jalapenos, tomatoes, avocados, etc

Let me know if you try this dish and what you would change about it!

  1. Your blog is looking good, but I’d include more pictures! I’d have loved to see what the inside looked like!
